Deaf Aid was founded in 2004 and is a Norwegian Non Government Organisation (NGO) that works to help and include deaf people in African societies, with a particular focus on deaf children and youth in Kenya. Deaf Aid actively works to influence and improve the school and educational system, to improve the quality and availability of sign language, to provide information, knowledge, and support to parents, and with general informational work on all levels of society.
Since January 2014, Uweza has been providing art classes twice a week at the Greenhouse School, a school for deaf students living in Kibera that is supported and managed by Deaf Aid. Uweza art students and students from the Greenhouse School have also participated in joint events such as community clean-ups.
