Rent for the Gallery

Opportunities to participate in art for Kibera children and youth are extremely limited, despite a plethora of artistic talent. The Uweza Art Gallery provides youth artists with space and materials to paint and market their artwork, which is sold online, at the gallery and through events and exhibitions. Several of the artists have been able to pay the entirety of their primary, high school and post-secondary education through the sales of their artwork, and many of the older artists are able to fully support themselves through their sales. Uweza Art Gallery also hosts art classes for children from Kibera twice a week.

After five years of operating out of a one-room shipping container, in January 2019, we were able to move our gallery to a two-story rented house in Kibera with sufficient space for our artists to work and to display our art. This donation will cover the cost of one month’s rent for our gallery.

Uweza is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

If you are donating as a gift for a loved one, be sure to let them know with one of our holiday cards.
